The Gator Bowl is proud to support this world-class tournament by hosting “Gator Bowl Day at THE PLAYERS”on Thursday, May 9th. The Gator Bowl Committee will enjoy the opening round of the tournament followed by an exclusive post-golf reception.

Gator Bowl Day then continues at THE LOT as we partner with the First Coast Y by sponsoring their After Par-Tee. THE PLAYERS partners with local charities to create a four-night concert series that raises funds for each charities primary cause. The Y’s “After Par-Tee” will feature GRAMMY nominated country recording artist JoDee Messina and proceeds will benefit their summer youth programs. Through our sponsorship of the After Par-Tee, Gator Bowl members and supporters can buy discounted tickets to the After Par-Tee.

Jacksonville, FL. — July 5, 2012

The Gator Bowl Association announced today that the 68th Annual
TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl will be played at Everbank Field in Jacksonville, Florida on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. The game will kickoff at 12:00 noon and will be televised nationally on ESPN2. The Gator Bowl will pair the fifth selection after the BCS from the Southeastern Conference and the third selection after the BCS from the Big Ten Conference.

Gator Bowl Chairman Greg Smith announced today members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2011. This year’s induction class includes former Oklahoma State Head Coach Pat Jones, University of Michigan standout, Anthony Carter and Bill Nimnicht, Sr., one of Jacksonville’s greatest civic leaders and a Past Chairman of the Gator Bowl Association. The Gator Bowl is extremely proud to honor these three outstanding individuals whose contributions have had such a positive impact in the world of college athletics,” said Chairman Smith. The CSX Coaches Luncheon and Hall of Fame Induction will be held on December 31 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel at 12:00 noon.

Greg Smith, Chairman of the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl and Jacksonville & NE Florida President of Bank of America Merrill Lynch, announced today that the Ohio State University will play the University of Florida in the January 2, 2012 TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl.

The last meeting between these two storied programs was in the 2007 BCS National Championship game.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are the Big Ten representative and this matchup will mark Ohio State’s second appearance in the Gator Bowl. Their first and only other appearance was in 1978 Gator Bowl. Ohio State has appeared in 12 different bowl games and the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl will be their 42nd bowl game.
