If running or walking is your thing, the Gator Bowl VyStar 5K Run is for you. This is an annual New Year’s Eve event that draws thousands of local and national participants. The VyStar 5K Run is held downtown starting at the Jacksonville Landing. The course runs through downtown and along Jacksonville’s scenic Riverwalk.
Run for a Child in the Gator Bowl VyStar 5K Run
Participants in the Gator Bowl VyStar 5K Run can make a $10 donation to Wolfson Children’s Hospital and receive a red arm band bearing the name of a child who is a patient. Once donors cross the finish line of the 5K Run, each will take pride knowing that every step they ran helped toward raising funds to care for sick and injured children.
In 2010, $12,938 was donated to Wolfson Children’s Hospital as part of the Run for a Child Program.
