The Gator Bowl Association is proud to offer the Boselli Award of Excellence, a college scholarship program targeting student leaders who are achieving academic excellence while also striving to reach their full athletic potential. Scholarships are awarded to one male and one female qualifying senior to assist in furthering their educational goals. Scholarships are awarded as a one-time $5,000.00 gift that may be used at any accredited University or Community College.
Eligibility Requirement
Applications are accepted each year from high school seniors from Florida’s First Coast who meet the following criteria:
- Maintain a 3.0+ GPA (on an unweighted 4.0 scale) from an accredited high school in Florida’s First Coast area
- Participate in a junior varsity or varsity sport or its equivalent
- Participate in extra-curricular activities through church, school and community
- Exhibit exemplary behavior, thereby being a good role model for peers
- Pledge to remain drug-free, alcohol-free and tobacco-free
- Complete the application process by published deadline of senior year of high school
Selection Criteria
The following factors will be considered in selecting the scholarship recipients:
- Athletic commitment – participation in varsity, intramural or youth league sport(s)
- Career goals
- Christian outreach / community service
- Communication skills – both written and oral
- Good citizenship
- Involvement in extracurricular activities
- Leadership qualities
- Positive attitude
- Presentation of application packet – neatness and organization
- Recommendations of Guidance Counselor, Coach and Minister
- Relationship with peers and superiors
- Scholastic record
Applications are available at area high school guidance departments as well as below. The application deadline for this grant cycle is Friday, November 9, 2012. Scholarship recipients will be selected by December 15 and the awards will be presented at the Gator Bowl Fellowship Breakfast on Saturday, December 29, 2012.
