10/25/06 - GATOR BOWL ASSOCIATION HOSTS LITTLE GATOR BOWL THIS SUNDAY OCTOBER 29 AT Jacksonville Municipal Stadium
Greater Jacksonville Division One Pop Warner City Champions Decided

JACKSONVILLE, FL 10/25/06 - The Gator Bowl Association will present the 2006 Little Gator Bowl Pop Warner City Championships this Sunday, October 29, at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. Four games will be played to decide the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Division One winners for the Junior Peewee, Peewee, Junior Midget and Midget leagues. Admission is free. Fans should enter through the West Touchdown Club and park in lots J, M and N. Stadium concessions will be available.

 The following is information for each game: 
9 a.m.    Junior PeeWee, ages 8-10
             Grand Park Athletic Association Trojans versus the Mandarin Athletic Association Tigers

 11 a.m.  PeeWee, ages 9-11
              North Jax Sports Association Wildcats versus the Mandarin Athletic Association Tigers

1 p.m.    Junior Midgets, ages 10-12
              Lakeshore Athletic Association Rangers versus Sweetwater Athletic Association Falcons

3 p.m.    Midgets, ages 11-14
              Lakeshore Athletic Association Raiders versus Sweetwater Athletic Association Eagles

 The City Champions will play the Division One winners from Mid-Florida at First Coast High School on November 11.  Winners from that game advance to the Regional Championships in Orlando on Thanksgiving weekend, with the chance to win their way to the Pop Warner National Championship game.

The Little Gator Bowl, first established in 1965, was played in the Gator Bowl Stadium until November 13, 1993. From 1994 until last year, the Pop Warner City Championships were played at Mandarin High School, Forest High School and First Coast High School. The game returned to the stadium in 2005. Currently, 21 Associations operate under the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner umbrella with over 5000 boys and girls participating.

The Gator Bowl Association and the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Football Conference have enjoyed a partnership for the last three years through the Gator Bowl?s PATCH program.  ?THE PATCH,? the official jersey patch of the Gator Bowl team participants, is also worn by all Pop Warner football and cheerleading participants. A college scholarship has also been established through the Gator Bowl?s PATCH program benefiting the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Football Conference.   

The mission of the Gator Bowl Association is to provide Northeast Florida with the very best in amateur athletics and related activities in order to maximize positive impact on the area?s economy, national image and community pride.  A 501(c)3 not-for profit organization, the Association?s primary charitable activities are focused on education and youth in the North Florida area.
