10/29/06 -2006 LITTLE GATOR BOWL CHAMPIONS CROWNED
Greater Jacksonville Division One Pop Warner City Champions Decided

JACKSONVILLE, FL 10/29/06 - The Gator Bowl Association hosted the 2006 Little Gator Bowl Pop Warner City Championships today at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. Four champions were determined for the Junior Peewee, Peewee, Junior Midget and Midget leagues of the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Division One.  The games drew an estimated crowd of 2500 throughout the day.

The winners are:
Junior PeeWees, ages 8-10
Mandarin Athletic Association Tigers defeated the Grand Park Athletic Association Trojans 14 ? 13.

PeeWees, ages 9-11
 Mandarin Athletic Association Tigers defeated the North Jax Sports Association Wildcats 14 ? 12.

Junior Midgets, ages 10-12
Sweetwater Athletic Association Falcons defeated the Lakeshore Athletic Association Rangers 8 ? 6.

Midgets, ages 11-14
Sweetwater Athletic Association Eagles defeated the Lakeshore Athletic Association Raiders 32-0. 

The City Champions will play the Division One winners from Mid-Florida at First Coast High School on November 11.  Winners from that game advance to the Regional Championships in Orlando Thanksgiving weekend, with the chance to win their way to the Pop Warner National Championship game.

The Little Gator Bowl, first established in 1965, and was played in the Gator Bowl Stadium until November 13, 1993. From 1994 until last year, the Pop Warner City Championships were played at Mandarin High School, Forest High School and First Coast High School. Currently, 21 Associations operate under the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner umbrella with over 5000 boys and girls participating.

The Gator Bowl Association and the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Football Conference have enjoyed a partnership for the last three years through the Gator Bowl?s PATCH program.  ?THE PATCH?, the official jersey patch of the Gator Bowl team participants, is also worn by all Pop Warner football and cheerleading participants. A college scholarship has also been established through the Gator Bowl?s PATCH program benefiting the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Football Conference.
